Hunting

The 10 most common hunting violations as reported by the Minnesota DNR

1.   Loaded and/or uncased firearms on a motor vehicle
2.   Not wearing hunting orange
3.   Transporting illegal upland game birds (Head or wing must be attached)
4.   Transporting illegal migratory waterfowl (Fully feathered head and wing)
5.   Hunting without license or duck stamp
6.   Unsigned duck stamp
7.   Possession of lead shot when hunting over water
8.   Trespassing
9.   Operating ATV's on roads
10. Shooting before or after legal hunting hours

With the arrival of fall colors, soon after Labor Day, we see the opening of several hunting seasons. Black Bear hunting has become more popular throughout our area.  
The opening of small game season, for most hunters that means grouse hunting is very popular. The excitement of a walk in the woods behind your favorite dog never changes.
Archery deer season begins in September. Near the end of September is waterfowl season.  In November the biggest event is firearms deer season.
