Discover Nature This Summer with Deep Portage Public Programs
Looking for a fun and educational way to enjoy the outdoors this summer? The Deep Portage Learning Center, located just outside of Hackensack, is offering a full lineup of public programs designed to connect people of all ages with nature, adventure, and hands-on learning.
Throughout June, July, and August, visitors can participate in activities ranging from canoeing, birding, archery, and climbing wall adventures to guided bog hikes, nature painting, campfire cooking, and orienteering. Special events like woodfire-oven pizza nights, bread and wine evenings, clothing swaps, and family scavenger hunts provide unique opportunities to gather with friends and neighbors while experiencing all that Deep Portage has to offer.
Many programs are available through free-will donations, making them an affordable way for families and visitors to explore northern Minnesota’s natural beauty. Most activities require registration, and space may be limited.
Whether you're looking to learn a new outdoor skill, enjoy a guided nature experience, or simply spend more time outside this summer, Deep Portage's public programs offer something for everyone.
