With all our lakes surrounded by state and national forest land, you never have to search far for a place to hunt. Deer, bear, grouse, ducks, geese and much more are available for hunting in season. Need a place to stay? Check out “Lodging” for the facilities open during hunting season.

With the arrival of fall colors, soon after Labor Day, we see the opening of several hunting seasons. Black bear hunting has become more popular throughout our area. The opening of small game season — for most hunters that means grouse — is always a popular time. A walk in the woods with your favorite dog never disappoints. Archery deer season begins in September. Near the end of September is waterfowl season.  In November the biggest event is firearms deer season.
