Camp Olson YMCA -- New Executive Director

We are thrilled to introduce our new Executive Director, John Lyon, who joined Camp Olson in 2024. John brings a wealth of experience in overnight camping, youth development and nonprofit leadership. He, his wife Tiffany, and their beloved pup Milo made the move from Florida and are excited to now call the Northwoods home. Tiffany has already become a dedicated member of the local community-serving on the Longville Chamber, supporting local initiatives, and proudly advocating for Camp Olson. John is passionate about continuing Camp Olson's legacy while bringing fresh energy and ideas to expand our reach and impact.

Camp Olson Mission & Programs:
  • We offer traditional overnight summer camp programs for youth ages 6-17, including horseback riding, sailing, arts and crafts, archery, nature explorations, and wilderness trips to the BWCA and Superior Hiking Trail. We also offer a Leadership Development program which helps teens build confidence, responsibility, and teamwork through wilderness experiences and counselor-in training programs.
  • Local families and vacationers love our Day Camp Program, available for kids 5-11. Day Camp runs Monday-Friday 9:00am-4:00pm, and offers a full day of classic camp fun- perfect for families staying at the lake or caregivers who want their children to enjoy enriching outdoor experiences without staying overnight.
What sets Camp Olson apart? Camp Olson is more than a summer camp- it's a place where lifelong friendships are made, independence is nurtured, and young people grow into confident leaders. Nestled in the heart of the Northwoods, our 1,350 acre campus provides campers with authentic outdoor experiences in a tech-free environment grounded in our core values of honesty, caring, respect and responsibility.
