Learn About Loons from a Leading Expert – July 12 in Longville
If you love Minnesota’s iconic loons, mark your calendar for a special event you won’t want to miss! On Saturday, July 12 at 1 PM, renowned loon biologist Dr. Walter Piper will present “Four Things We Have Learned about Loons” at Salem Lutheran Church in Longville.
Dr. Piper, a professor at Chapman University and founder of The Loon Project, has spent over 30 years studying loon behavior, territory, and population trends in Wisconsin and Minnesota. His research has uncovered concerning declines in breeding success and survival rates — and this event will shed light on what these changes mean for our beloved birds.
Hosted by the CGWLAA, Aquatic Wildlife Advocacy Committee, ACCL, and MN Loon Rescue, this free presentation welcomes all who care about loon conservation. A free-will donation is appreciated to support The Loon Project’s ongoing efforts to protect these treasured lake-dwellers.
